Tea for the Soul

The Spiritual Care Guild to honored to supply homemade cookies and tea each week for Tea for the Soul at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Every day, the Spiritual Care chaplains wheel a cart filled with tea and cookies to a hospital unit in order to provide a moment of respite for the staff. The chaplains serve the well-deserving hospital staff a cup of tea and cookie, as well as provide emotional and spiritual support amidst some of the most chaotic and desperate moments of caring for critically ill children. This unique and ever popular experience is known as Tea for the Soul.

Spiritual Care & Clinical Pastoral Education

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is interfaith professional education for spiritual care and counseling, as well as ministry in a variety of other settings. The training program brings theological students and clergy from all faith traditions into supervised spiritual care with patients and families.

The Spiritual Care Guild raises funds to directly support the annual salary of a chaplain. This is all made possible through the efforts of our members, the community and generous donations from people like you.

Worldwide Candle Lighting Day Ceremony

On the second Sunday of December a ceremony of remembrance is held, created as a way for families and friends to honor the memories of children who have left the world too soon. The Spiritual Care Guild Children’s Hospital Los Angeles sponsors this event for CHLA families. It is one of the Guild’s special opportunities to be close to the work they do to benefit the patients and families of CHLA. Guild members bake and bag cookies for all that attend this annual event. The Outreach Committee of the Spiritual Care Guild is an integral part in planning and providing for this day.

Baptismal Kits

The Guild assembles “Grab and Go” Baptismal Kits for baptisms that may be performed at the wishes of the parents during a child’s hospitalization. The kits include Holy Water, a hand-knitted Baptismal stole, a gift card made by a local school child, a Baptismal Certificate and a special candle.
